Countdown to Departure

We're getting down to the wire, here in Abu Dhabi.

Selling furniture, trying to empty the apartment, arranging for a mover for the few meager possessions we want to keep.

It's been a little stressful.

Earlier this week we cancelled my visa so that Paul could submit his visa for cancellation. We are hoping it won't take the two weeks they think. (Mine took 10 minutes, so I'm not sure what's going on there).  Paul's last official day is December 17. With a little luck, we'll be on a plane by the 19th. That, at least, is my fondest hope.

We got our visas for France, and they become effective on December 25. That leaves us enough time to spend the holidays with family in California, something I'm not sure we've done since we arrived in October of 2009. We will leave for France on New Year's Eve. I figure it beats some dreary party, and since we're flying premium economy I'm sure someone will give us Champagne, right?

I've made a list, and I'm checking off the items as best I can. We give up our bed on Saturday, so after that it's easy, right?
